YRC-8PRO Dental Milling Machine FAQ: Troubleshooting, Machining Efficiency & Technical Specifications

Every Friday, we round up the trickiest, most-asked questions from our YRC-8PRO users around the world — the ones that pop up again and again in your inboxes, WhatsApp messages, and support tickets. This week, we're tackling everything from bur breakage mysteries to shaving minutes off your glass-ceramic crown milling time.

Got a question that's not on the list? Drop it in the comments — it might be the star of next week's FAQ Friday!

Q1: Could exceeding the height limit when milling metal cause the bur to break on the YRC-8PRO?
A: Check whether the tool magazine failed to switch burs correctly. Figure 3 shows the bur used for zirconia milling, while Figure 1 shows the titanium disc material.

Q2: A customer reported that milling a single glass-ceramic crown on the YRC-8PRO takes 47 minutes, even with feed rate set to 100%. Are there ways to improve speed?

A: Setting the feed rate to 100% only maxes out the "feed override" — it doesn't address the real bottleneck, which lies in tooling, cooling method, spindle speed strategy, and CAM tool paths. Simply pushing the feed rate further won't help. Optimize across these areas instead:

  1. Bur selection: Use fine-grit diamond burs specifically designed for glass-ceramic, and check the remaining tool life of current burs.
  2. Spindle speed: Confirm whether spindle RPM has also reached the machine's upper limit — the YRC-8PRO's maximum spindle speed is 60,000 RPM.
  3. CAM toolpath optimization: For glass-ceramic, a layer thickness of 0.3–0.5mm is recommended; for roughing, leave 0.3–0.5mm of stock for finishing.
  4. Equipment maintenance: Inspect and maintain the guide rails and ball screws — prolonged lack of maintenance can reduce positioning accuracy, causing the system to auto-compensate by slowing down.

Q3: The YRC-8PRO displays the following error during operation. How can it be resolved?

A: This indicates an issue with the NC file. First, check the file formatting and verify whether the tooth angle exceeds the allowable limit. Then reformat the USB drive and re-import the NC file.

Q4: What is the machining accuracy of the YRC-8PRO milling machine?
A: The YRC-8PRO has a machining accuracy of 50μm.

Q5: Does the YRC-8PRO spindle feature dynamic balancing? If so, what is the balance grade (e.g., G2.5 or G1)?
A: The YRC-8PRO spindle is dynamically balanced. The balance grade, along with other spindle specifications, are as follows:
